Sacred Heart Archives - JIMMY AND NICK and LA Fashion Weekend.

Hiya my Lovelies.

So here it is, the next installment. Boy what a ride it has been. Now, let's remember what art is about. ABOUT PASSION. Yo. Checkit, wreckit.
Here at the Highways we do the work. Sometimes we celebrate the mystic. Into town, all the way from Michigan comes, The Sacred Heart Archives with, "The Key Said Run and The Door Said Fly".

And so they did. Wicked haunting singing with heart crushing monologues. Melissa and Julia are quite the pair. Only if you can dare, dare Mr. Fox.
Then, in the quietness of an LA LA week, rolls in Nick and Jimmy. Dance. In Tribute. None of the herky jerky. Only the bewitching calmness that is Jimmy.

They float. Rising above the cacophony, to a quiet and elegant place. No Bass. Cause the basses all belong to us.
Contrasting between the two pieces, one is like fleece, one is a beast. The Key, is all sharp edges and trauma, while Jimmy and Nick are cocooned in hope. Bouncing back and forth is quite the romping about. Yours truly, a little hurly burly, functioned in peace the whole way. Nothing more to say on this. Other than, there is art in LA.
Then, just when you thought it would end, Mean Panda took the Red Carpet Runway.

With Patrick Kennelly - Creator - "Patty" Check out the kickstarter and if you can give, do. The video is icy and hot. Kennelly is on the upswing and will be a player for years to come.
LA Fashion Weekend. Posing and posing, as only a Nista can do.

And then with my buddy Hope. Creative Director Gallery LA. Hope is fundamentally fantastic. Rockin' LA LA with her smokin' hotness and cool.
Fashion. As ART. Whoda thunk it.

ART AS STREET

We, us, the collective of persons and peoples, define what is art.
You walk down a street and realize the wall next to you is covered in color. So many colors. The whole hulking thing and it is an incoherent mess of lines and dots and squiggles. You back off, and the farther away you get from the wall, the clearer the image becomes.
Street Art
+++ Hey, this image is from the Blog - Brooklyn Street Art. http://www.brooklynstreetart.com/theblog/ CHECK IT OUT! +++
This is art. Sometimes you have to be far enough away that the image you think you see can become the image that is actually there. The world of art is a funny place. It is a place full of contradictions with people working constantly to maintain their "street cred" or integrity, but needing the support or blessing of a traditional arts organization for the purpose of making the name they need to support the work that they are doing. Strange indeed YO. Perception is reality, so if art is inside it is legitimate and if art is outside, it ain't. Is this so?
Percolate on this. Recently MOCA LA (Museum of Contemporary Art LA) had a whole show with street art spilling from the inside to the out.

+++ PROVISIONS ok? provisionslibrary.com +++
And so all these artists that create and reap the streets are suddenly legit. Art doesn't quit, yo.
Behind it all are big money, deep pocket peeps. With bread that could literally fill the streets. So the anointed, recently oiled down with praise, hit the world in deep stride, popping to the beat of "baby, you are a baby of mine." or something like that.
So has it been. So it shall be to the end of time. Art is nothing but a line.
On the other side of LA LA in the sleepy and not weepy, beach city of Santa Monica, by the bay, is a place for Queer and Str8 alike. Highways Performance Space and Gallery. ART MADE HERE.
